Interesting personal facts:
I grew up in Harrison County but now teach in Marion. In addition to my degree in education, I also have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I enjoy reading and have read almost 40 books this year. I love to travel and attend as many concerts as possible. I like watching football, hockey, and soccer. I help coach volleyball for EFHS and love watching my players grow as athletes and people.
Why are you excited to be part of the M3T project?
I love having the opportunity to learn and collaborate with other math teachers from around the state. I always want to work to improve my teaching and provide the best education possible. Being part of this project allows me to focus the changes I am making and use data to help direct my choices.
Why do you teach mathematics?
I teach mathematics because I feel it is the area where I can make the most impact. Being able to think logically and problem solve are important skills for everyone.
What are you focused on improving about mathematics teaching?
I am focused on improving the negative mindset many students have when it comes to mathematics.
Final thoughts:
I am very excited to be part of this project and to grow as a math teacher. I also look forward to being able to take what I’ve learned and share it with other teachers.
