Interesting personal facts: She is the mother of two amazing young men and she is an alternative path educator as she studied Psychology and Old Testament Literature as an undergrad.

Why are you excited to be part of the M3T project?

“I believe that professional development is most effective when it is driven by teachers themselves in a supportive atmosphere that values risk taking. I am excited to be a part of a project that harnesses the passion of educators.”

Why do you teach mathematics?

“I love teaching mathematics because the core of mathematical work…sense making, critical thinking, problem solving…are skills that are transferable to every area of life and necessary for being a responsible member of society.”

What are you focused on improving about mathematics teaching?

“This shifts a bit from year to year. There are several areas of need that I think are valuable. Currently, I am thinking a lot about ways to help students develop their problem solving abilities when confronted with novel problems. This includes both their ability to persevere and the development of their mathematical reasoning skills.”
